Woman withdraws police report claiming she was sexually harassed by Ahmad Faizal

KUALA LUMPUR: The woman who claimed she was sexually harassed by Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has withdrawn her police report.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the complainant withdrew the report against the former minister on the same day she lodged it.

"However, we have opened a police inquiry paper on the matter.

"The process is ongoing," he said when contacted on Thursday (Aug 3).

It is learnt that the purpose of an inquiry paper is to get the gist of the complainant’s report and why the individual made such claims.

It will also enable the police to determine if any criminal offence was committed.

Ahmad Faizal had said the report alleging he sexually harassed a woman at Plaza Damas in Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur on July 24 was slander.

He said he could even prove that he was not at the site when the alleged incident happened.

"I was in another state at that time. How could I have uttered such words to that woman when I was not even there?

"I am talking to my lawyers and I will issue a full statement soon," said Ahmad Faizal, who filed a counter report at the Sri Hartamas police station on Thursday (Aug 3).

In the report that went viral, a woman alleged that she was walking to an office in Plaza Damas when a man she claimed to be Ahmad Faizal uttered derogatory remarks against her.

"I was angry and embarrassed and I continued walking to Blok M (Plaza Damas). I then narrated the story to my husband.

"My husband wants to see Ahmad Faizal and upon his advice, I was urged to go to the police station to file a report for my safety," the complainant said in the report.
